‘Ride the range all the day till the last fading light be with my western girl by the fire…………

The cowboys are finished and they really are so cute.

At only two inches tall they would have to ride a very small range, here’s one rounding the mug just before his horse jumps the reading glasses and he heads off down the A4. (Printer paper)

He has some friends too because cowboys always have lots of friends

This lot are hanging around the mug because they haven’t got enough horses.  I wasn’t sure if the horses would fit them; porcelain shrinks when fired, in these little sizes a small difference can throw everything out.  The saddle had to fit on the horse and the cowboy, with trousers and chaps, had to fit on the saddle. The same horse, without a saddle, had to fit the Indians in thinner trousers, so it was all a bit experimental.  I have made the Indians too but haven’t had time to photograph them and they ride around bareback very nicely.  So very soon I had better get all dusty again and ride on out to the old porcelain mine and fire up my jugs or else there’ll be a showdown at the four horse corral.

Of course, you don’t have to buy a horse with each cowboy, or indeed each Indian but if I don’t make enough, everyone will want one.  If I make adequate numbers of each no one will be interested and if I make exactly the same of each someone will want the horses on their own as twenty fourth scale ponies or forty eighth scale packhorses and some poor cowboy will have to walk all the way home trailing his rope in the dust.

Aah! (And they’re only two inches tall.)
